Kendal House is a small, friendly residential care home in Whitley Bay, just moments from the seaside. We provide a warm, safe and welcoming environment, with personalised care for residents aged 65 and over.
At Kendal House, we pride ourselves on creating a close-knit community with fewer residents. As a result, we can offer more personalised attention and support. Our beautiful back garden is also a peaceful place to enjoy fresh air and relaxation.
Lastly, with a long-established reputation in the area, we are dedicated to ensuring our residents feel comfortable, cared for, and truly at home.
Note: Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate residents at Kendal House who require the full time use of a wheelchair.
Our Birch Hill, Carntyne and Melbury House care homes are all fully accessible for wheelchair users.

Kendal House is rated Good overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), with Good ratings across Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. The home is registered with the CQC to provide residential care, including support for older people and people living with dementia.
Home Manager
Kendal House provides personalised residential, dementia, respite and convalescent care in a small and friendly setting. Support is shaped around the individual, helping residents feel safe, comfortable and valued.
We provide caring residential support for people aged over 65 in Whitley Bay. Where needed, each resident receives personalised assistance based on what they can do for themselves and where they would benefit from additional help, enabling them to retain independence and enjoy everyday life.
Kendal House offers dementia care in Whitley Bay within a friendly, supportive residential setting. We care for people affected by a range of dementias, including Alzheimer’s, Lewy Body dementia, Parkinson’s-related dementia, Korsakoff’s syndrome and Frontotemporal Dementia. Most importantly we adapt our care to the individual rather than simply their diagnosis.
Kendal House welcomes older people requiring respite or short-term convalescent care in Whitley Bay. Whether someone is recovering after illness, needs additional support following a hospital stay or their usual carer needs a break, we provide a comfortable and reassuring place to stay.
We help residents stay involved in the things they enjoy, maintain social connections and make choices about their daily lives. Our approach balances practical support with encouragement, companionship and independence.
Wellbeing at Kendal House means helping residents continue doing the things that give their lives enjoyment and purpose. From group activities and companionship to quieter individual interests, we support residents to stay engaged, connected and involved in life within the home.
Kendal House can support residents who have some mobility difficulties and may need assistance moving safely around the home. Our care team provides individual support to help residents remain as independent, comfortable and confident as possible. However, because of the layout of the building, Kendal House is not suitable for residents who depend on a wheelchair for mobility.
