A family-run group of five residential care homes

Lenore Care is a family-run group of five residential care homes across North East England and North Yorkshire. Our story is one of steady growth, local relationships and a commitment to preserving the individual character of every home that joins us.

How our group has grown

The wider family care story began before the current residential group was formed. Jack and Grace Jenkinson took over the family business in 2019, before expanding into residential care for older people from 2021 onwards. The original Lenore Care Home supports a different specialist adult rehabilitation service and is separate from the five residential homes featured on this website.

  1. 2019Jack and Grace Jenkinson take over the family business.
  2. August 2021Kendal House, Whitley Bay joins Lenore Care and marks the beginning of residential care for older people. The small, friendly Whitley Bay home became the foundation of the five-home residential group we operate today.
  3. February 2024Carntyne, Hexham becomes part of the group, an important step in our growth across Northumberland. The established Hexham home kept the familiar character and close-knit approach valued by residents and families.
  4. April 2024Melbury House, Seaham joins, continuing our expansion into County Durham. The long-established Seaham home brought an experienced team and strong local identity, both of which remain an important part of the home today.
  5. May 2025Birch Hill, Norham becomes the latest Northumberland home to join the group. Our focus has been to support its experienced team, protect the culture residents and families value, and invest in its continued success.
  6. 2025Arden House, Pickering takes Lenore Care into North Yorkshire. After almost four decades of family ownership, the home brought another small, homely residential setting with strong roots in its local community.

Our approach is not to make every home look or feel the same. Each has its own history, team and community. When a home joins Lenore Care, our focus is to understand what already works well, support the people who make it successful and invest where we can make things even better.
