About Arden House

Arden House is a residential care home just off the centre of Pickering, within easy reach of the North York Moors and the surrounding countryside. It provides comfortable accommodation and 24-hour care from an experienced team for older people.

The aim is a recognisably ‘domestic’ home with a relaxed atmosphere. Staff talk through every aspect of how each person’s wishes can be supported, from favourite foods to specific medical needs, and agree a personal lifestyle plan with the resident and their family.

Fay Hugill is the Home Manager. Arden House is part of the Lenore family of five care homes in the North East and North Yorkshire.

Meet the people you will see every day

“Working as a carer at Arden House is so rewarding, seeing what a difference you’re making to the residents and even their families. It makes you aware how good of a job you are doing. Even on the challenging days, which don’t occur very often, you feel very well supported by management and the rest of the team. Training is encouraged and because of this, I have grown in confidence and developed skills since starting at Arden House.”

What residents and families say

Real words from people connected with Arden House, shared with their permission. [LENORE CARE TO CONFIRM: check each quote against the original and that permission was given]

From the moment we first visited, we knew this was the right place for Mum. Nestled just south of the beautiful North York Moors, the home feels more like a cosy country retreat than a care facility. The staff have shown genuine warmth, patience, and compassion—not just towards Mum, but to our whole family. She’s no longer just being looked after, she’s truly living again—laughing, engaging with others, and feeling at ease in her surroundings. It’s such a relief to know she’s in safe hands, surrounded by people who treat her with the dignity and kindness she deserves. I honestly couldn’t ask for more.

Sarah W – Daughter of Arden House Resident

I was widowed and came to Arden House. Everyone is kind and caring and thoughtful, nothing is too much trouble. The food is great. Absolutely fantastic care. I feel very safe. You just ring the bell and they are here. I love being at Arden House, it’s the best.

Joan W – Resident since August 2025

I am happy here. The care is wonderful. The food is great. It is a homely environment and I have no desire to go home. I feel very safe knowing I can ring my bell and someone will come. It’s the best thing I ever did coming to Arden House.

Florence N – Resident since July 2024
